A bright, refreshing salad layered with grapefruit, oranges, creamy avocado, and toasted almonds, brought together with a sweet citrus poppy seed dressing made with Blood Orange Olive Oil and Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic.

Ingredients

Dressing

  • 1/3 cup local honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup Della Terra Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tsp minced onion
  • 1 cup Della Terra Blood Orange Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds

Salad

  • 1 white grapefruit
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 avocados
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup whole raw almonds
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce

Directions

In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, salt, Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic, minced onion, Blood Orange Olive Oil, and poppy seeds until well combined.

Set aside for several hours, or ideally refrigerate overnight to allow flavours to develop.

Peel and slice grapefruit and oranges.

Cut avocados in half, remove pits, peel, and slice. Toss immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Chop romaine lettuce and place in a large serving bowl.

Toss lettuce with a portion of the dressing.

Layer grapefruit, oranges, avocado, and almonds over top.

Drizzle with additional dressing and serve.
